BootsOnCall is operated by Sunshine Treasure LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use our website (bootsoncall.com), our service request platform, our contractor portal, our SMS messaging program, and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
When you request services from BootsOnCall, register as a contractor, or interact with our platform, we collect information you give us, including:
- Your name, phone number, and email address
- Your service address and ZIP code (for customers)
- A description of the work you need (for customers)
- Photos and videos you upload to describe a job (for customers)
- Trade specialties, service areas, insurance information, and government identification (for contractors)
- Payment information (handled directly by Stripe, our payment processor — see Section 4)
- Communications you send to us, including SMS messages, emails, and voice calls
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website or use our platform, we automatically collect:
- Device and browser information (type, operating system, IP address)
- Usage information (pages viewed, links clicked, time spent)
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies (used to keep you logged in and improve site functionality — we do not use third-party advertising cookies)
Information from third parties
We may receive information about contractors from background-check providers and insurance verification services as part of our vetting process. We may receive information about referred customers from the person who referred them.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Match customers with appropriate contractors and dispatch service requests
- Send you SMS messages relating to your service request, including confirmations, contractor matches, appointment reminders, status updates, and payment receipts
- Send contractors job dispatch offers, customer details for assigned jobs, and payout notifications
- Process payments and contractor payouts
- Verify contractor credentials, insurance, and legal eligibility to perform work
- Communicate with you about your account, our Service, and updates to our policies
- Improve our platform and develop new features
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unlawful activity
- Comply with legal obligations
3. SMS Program Specifically
BootsOnCall operates an SMS messaging program for both customers and contractors. By providing your phone number through our website, by texting our published business number, or by registering as a contractor, you consent to receive SMS messages from BootsOnCall as described in our Terms of Service.
Message frequency varies based on the activity of your service request or your status as a contractor. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for support or STOP to unsubscribe at any time.
We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or SMS content with third parties for their own marketing purposes. SMS opt-in data is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes under any circumstances.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as necessary to operate the Service. Specifically:
With contractors and customers (matched parties)
When a customer's service request is matched with a contractor, we share the customer's first name, service address, time window, and job description with the assigned contractor. We share the contractor's first name and phone number with the customer. We do this so the parties can coordinate the work.
With service providers we use to operate the platform
We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, under contractual obligations to handle the data securely and only for the purposes we instruct. These include:
- Telnyx — for SMS and voice messaging delivery
- Stripe — for payment processing and contractor payouts
- Google Firebase — for our platform infrastructure (database, authentication, hosting)
- Anthropic — for the AI-assisted conversational features used during customer intake
- Background check and insurance verification providers (for contractor vetting only)
For legal reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public.
In a business transfer
If Sunshine Treasure LLC or BootsOnCall is acquired, merged, or sells substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before any such transfer takes place.
5. What We Don't Do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent your information. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not use your data to train AI models for any purpose other than operating the Service.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service and meet our legal, accounting, and operational obligations. Specifically:
- Active customer and contractor records: retained while the account is active
- Job history and transaction records: retained for at least seven (7) years for tax and accounting purposes
- SMS conversation logs: retained for two (2) years, then archived or deleted
- Payment records: retained as required by Stripe and applicable financial regulations
7. Your Rights and Choices
Accessing and updating your information
You can access and update your account information through the customer portal (app.bootsoncall.com) or contractor portal (pro.bootsoncall.com), or by contacting us.
Deleting your information
You can request that we delete your personal information by emailing support@bootsoncall.com. We will delete your information within thirty (30) days, except for records we are legally required to retain (such as transaction records for tax purposes).
Opting out of SMS
You can opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. Opting out of SMS will affect our ability to communicate with you about active service requests.
California, Colorado, and other state-specific rights
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, or other states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have additional rights including the right to know what personal information we have collected, the right to delete that information, and the right to opt out of certain types of data processing. 8. Children's Privacy
BootsOnCall is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. Payment information is processed and stored by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. Platform data is stored on Google Firebase using encryption in transit and at rest. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Users
BootsOnCall operates in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top, and where appropriate by sending you an email or SMS notification. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
